Beckett Update

Even though he's feeling better and started to throw again today, it's now official that Beckett won't be going to Japan.

From redsox.com, "Just as Josh Beckett resumed throwing for the first time in eight days, Red Sox manager Terry Francona made it official on Sunday that the right-handed ace will not accompany the team to Tokyo for their opening series against the Athletics."

Because of the event mentioned in today's earlier post, Daisuke, on the other hand, will be available to pitch in Japan. Like usual, I think Tito made the right decision. Why put Beckett's entire future on the line for one game when we have other great pitchers (ex: Lester, Dice-K, etc.) who can fill his spot?

You can read the entire article on Francona's announcement here.

They are smartly going to bring Beckett along with the normal progression for pitchers in ST. It's a long season. There's no need to rush. Maybe he'll be ready for the Fenway opener.

Hopefully, BFW. As long as he's ready when we really need him, I'll be happy!
