Congratulations to Kevin Youkilis--our very own first baseman!
Last night, he set "a Major League record by playing consecutive game No. 194 at first base without an error. "
"The baseball that Youkilis gloved for out No. 27 on Wednesday? That is going to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. "
Here are Youk's own words: "It's an achievement that you never set out to do, but it happened, and it's great to have."
Dustin Pedroia sounded pretty excited about it, too: "That's awesome, 194 games; that's unbelievable. It's awesome playing next to him. He fields everything. He's like a vacuum."
Terry Francona also had some nice words to say, "He's done a good job. He's worked hard and I enjoy getting a chance to brag about our guys. I do that all the time. I hope there's a lot of other things that happen like that where I can talk about it."
Well, Tito, there is something else for you to brag about... Lester's awesome game yesterday. Ortiz and Varitek had homers, and Tek's actually counted this time!
It seemed pretty weird without a game today, but tommorow we'll be in another country (again!) to play the Jays in Canada.
