Season's First Sox-Yankees Matchup

Just in time for the three-game series starting today, I found a few anti-Yankee articles:

Here's one that I love the title of: "Reasons Yanks will be home this October"

It's the New York Yankees, who arrive in Boston this weekend after splitting a series with the Rays and dropping a series to the Royals. Lost in all the shovelfuls of dirt being heaped on the Tigers during their 0-7 start were some foreboding signs in New York.

"The Yankees have a perilous mix of players who are well past their prime, young pitchers who haven't reached theirs yet and two journeymen middle relievers racing each other to the waiver wire.

"This will add up to the unthinkable: no October baseball in the Bronx for the first time since the
strike year of 1994."

This story was just as amusing. Apparently, while constructing the New Yankee Stadium, "a devilish Boston fan working on a concrete crew at the $1.3 billion stadium covertly buried a Red Sox T-shirt under what will become the visiting team's locker room to jinx the Yanks."

This seems to have caused a bit of an uproar, and Chris Wertz, co-owner of the Red Sox bar Professor Thom's, has said, "I won't be surprised in the least bit to see that visiting locker room torn up and relaid right away. This what makes the game special for baseball fans. It's not a mean thing, but something they will take seriously."

I can't say whether I believe in this "curse" (or if there really is a shirt buried under the stadium), but one thing that I do believe is that the Yankees better watch out this year (watch out for us, that is!).
