While it also applies to last night's game (from the fourth inning on, at least), which was our first loss in the US with a score of 7-2, the reason for the title is Mike Lowell.
While diving for a ball hit by Ivan Rodriguez, Mikey strained a ligament in his thumb, taking him out of the game. He explained, "I didn't really know what I did, but when I saw the replay, I took a little bit of a half dive. I just rolled over and felt my hand separate. It hurt right away."
"I don't know if that's good or bad," Lowell added. "I definitely would not like to go on the disabled list. Tomorrow is a day that's going to let me know a lot more. I'm hoping for the best."
In place of Lowell, Youk took third and Sean Casey played first base.
Even though Lowell is hurt, there is some good news, "Mike Timlin expected to come off the DL tomorrow night against the Yankees."
Mikey had a similar injury last year and he healed quickly, so hopefully the same will happen this year. You can watch a video of Mike describing the injury here, and you can just hear in his voice and see in his face how upset he is.

While I hated to see/hear that Lowell got hurt, I do enjoy seeing the Sox mixing it up from time to time (like with Youk on 3rd & Casey on 1st). And here's to another Sox player (MT) coming off the DL :)
Lowell was not hitting well up until now. Maybe he'll bounce back on fire! Hate to lose him for 2 weeks though.
They brought up Jed Lowrie today to take Lowell's roster spot. Interesting move since Lowrie is a shortstop.
SC- That was pretty cool getting to see Casey play.
Rooster- That would be pretty cool if he came back "en fuego"!
I'm pretty excited about Lowrie, but I'm sad about Mikey.
And then, it's me for a comment. I hope the game tonight (in about 1 plus hours) will bring all of us happiness. Hey Brittany, great post! Peter
"En fuego" is "on fire?" Right, bueno muchahca? That means my good friend, i think.
Nice job on your Spanish, Peter!
Yep, "en fuego" is "on fire." I figured it would fit well with Lowell's Latin background.
Thanks for the comment!
